Glaucoma is a disease of the eye that can affect anyone anywhere. It has been referred to as the "silent thief of sight" -
by the time symptoms like pain and vision loss are noticed, it may already be too late. Of the 3 million Americans afflicted
by glaucoma, it is estimated that half do not know they have it.
Caught early, glaucoma can be managed. Treatments - many as simple as eye drops and minor surgeries - are able to effectively
combat it, with minor changes to an individual's quality of life. Any vision stolen by the disease, however, is forever lost.
Team CONTACT is working to improve glaucoma detection rates and lower its costs. No one should have to spend time worrying about the true meaning of a pain in their eye or wonder
if they'll wake up with lost sight. We want a cheaper, cleaner alternative to glaucoma detection.
